Take 5--a complaint or just crankiness?

Take 5...or rather 15. This struck me so wrong today in class--the 15 minute time constraint. Yes, I know we are honoring our time, but gosh, to cut people off (not just me) right at the buzzer without even finishing my sentence; this does not fit constructivism, in my mind. I don't know, am I just tired and crabby?

You are right. That was not very constructivist of me. Help me solve the time dilemnia and stay true to the norms without upsetting others. Sorry!!!

I also noticed the abrupt conversation cut off and felt bad about it. I think that the alarm/timer is probably the best way to go. If it goes off during someone's comments, we know it's about time to wrap it up. But, they should certainly be entitled to finish their thoughts!

Just a thought; it is important to keep time. However, instead of completely cutting people off in mid stream, the timekeeper raises his or her hand to signal one minute left. This will politely let the speaker know that he/she needs to wind things down.
